Frank A. Mayer was born in Santa Cruz, California in September of 1942. After graduating from the paralegal program at the University of California at Los Angeles, School of Law in 1976, he began his litigation/paralegal career with the firm of Lewis, Brisbois and was its first paralegal hire. He served as a research assistant to Roy Brisbois in the publication of his book, California Products Liability: Law and Practice (1999).

He has extensive experience in the fields of medical and legal malpractice, construction defect, securities fraud, RICO litigation, and personal injury law. He received his Ph.D in History from the University of Southern California in May of 1988.

From September of 1993 through December of 2006, Mr. Mayer was a member of the California State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission. He has run in nine Los Angeles Marathons.
