F. Phillip Hosp was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on August 22, 1944. After graduating from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1966, he attended Loyola University of Los Angeles Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1969. Mr. Hosp has completed graduate courses in civil litigation, bankruptcy, corporate, insurance and real property law at the University of Southern California School of Law.

Mr. Hosp is admitted to the California Bar, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States Court of Appeal, Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Los Angeles, Pasadena and American Bar Associations, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and Defense Research Institute.

Mr. Hosp has extensive experience in all areas of insurance defense litigation including auto, common carrier, construction defect, general negligence, products liability litigation and subrogation. He has significant expertise in building and construction law, specializing in construction disputes and construction defect cases. He has also represented a number of common carriers and from 1972 through 1978 was chief trial counsel in Southern California for Allied Van Lines. Mr. Hosp has served as legal counsel for the Southern California Museum of Science and Industry, the Southern California Professional Golfers Association, the YMCA, and Oakmont Country Club where he was president in 1986.

In addition, Mr. Hosp has provided corporate and defense-related services to a broad range of companies in the building, manufacturing and medical fields.

Mr. Hosp currently works with select insurance brokerage firms to develop specialized insurance programs, risk retention and purchasing groups as well as captives and risk management products.

Mr. Hosp sat as a judge pro tem of the Los Angeles Superior Court from 1980 to 1983. He currently serves on the Los Angeles Superior Court Judicial Arbitration/Mediation Panel and has been appointed settlement officer for the Pasadena and Glendale branches of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mr. Hosp was recently appointed to IVAMS ADR Services panel as an arbitrator/mediator specializing in complex personal injury and construction cases. Mr. Hosp has been a lecturer and consultant on numerous occasions with respect to issues affecting the insurance and building industries.
